Investors sold both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alphabet&#8217;s shares <a href=\"https:\/\/247wallst.com\/investing\/2026\/10\/29\/amazon-slides-3-as-alphabets-12-plunge-raises-stakes-for-aws-report-meta-rises-3-microsoft-pulls-back\/\">fell more than 12%<\/a> on 29 October; Amazon&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/10\/29\/amazon-amzn-q3-earnings-report-2026.html\">dropped more than 6%<\/a> after its results. The cloud boom has a bill: each more than doubled its quarterly spending on buildings and equipment. In the 12 months to September, the cash left after that spending fell to $19.7B at Alphabet, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1652044\/000165204425000087\/googexhibit991q32025.htm\">$73.6B a year earlier<\/a>, and to \u2212$42.4B at Amazon, from $14.8B.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both are trading today&#8217;s cash for tomorrow&#8217;s AI revenue.
